Subject:To the Kingdom of The West
Posted by:ladyqkat.
Time:2:31 pm.
Mood: surprised.
Thank you.

sordak and I received a card in the mail today, with a San Francisco cancellation stamp, simply signed "From a friend in The West. You are missed." Enclosed were five $20 bills.

This largesse comes at a time when it is both needed and very welcome. To say I am stunned is an understatement. The last few years have been very difficult and I had lost much faith in the basic goodness of people. This has done much to restore that faith.

There have been a few people in our new land of Artemisia, especially in the Barony of Arn Hold, who have helped us, and shored us up emotionally, in the last several months. I also wish to thank them.

Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train.

All gentle words put aside I speak plainly.

Between the hours of 12:00 midnight and this morning their
excellencies of Loch Salann's garage and vehicles were broken into.
Ulrich and Rachel, glen and Laura Vansteeter have had the following
items stolen from their home.

Ulrich's chain of estate

Subject:Why are we all here?
Posted by:gilhaye.
Time:4:25 pm.
Mood: I'm blonde.
I'm new to this group and new to LJ. I responded yesterday to ilikemytie's posting as to her imminent arrival to Artemisia. Today, I came back to look around more. It seems that there are only 2 people in this group that are actually living within the confines of Artemisia at the current moment. Are all the other folks from here or have lived here at one time? So, I guess this would be the beginning of a "Lets get to know each other" thread.

I live in Ogden, UT (Shire of Gryphon's Lair). I was born and raised in Louisville, KY (Baronny of the Flame, Middle Kingdom) but didn't get to start playing until I joined the Air Force and got stationed in Dover, DE (Shire of Caer Adamant, East Kingdom). I have, also, been stationed in Korea where I was a part of the Stronghold of Warrior's Gate, Baronny of the Far West, West Kingdom. I wouldn't even mention that except that I DID actually go to one event while I was there. So, I played there.

Thats me in a nutshell. Its kinda tight in here so, please, tell us all about yourself and let me out.

Bonjour, Hello, and all that good stuff!

Allow myself to. . . introduce myself. . . I am "Lord" AEmil mab Donnachaidh, loyal Cabin "Boy" to Lord Captain Dominico Taddio of the Botta Puntessa of the Barony of Aquaterra's Naval Fleet. . . or something like that. . . Posing as the Ambassador to the Kingdom of the East for the Barony of Aquaterra, I am giving that up to move all the way from Massachusetts to your gorgeous state of Utah! I'll be there by the first weekend of May to a beautiful home which is currently under contract in Clinton.

My yummy habits include:
- Belly dancing (Though, after this winter, it's become more belly and less dancing!)
- Fencing (Ugh! I renewed my card last April, and then I haven't fought in about a year! I'll be a big confidence booster for any intermediate fighters!)
- Equestrian (I used to be a dressage student, and would be happy to help with the grooming/keeping of anyone's steeds. I make an excellent [free] Groom.)
- Bard (I love singing bawdy songs and am a professional harper. [Not harpist. I play folk music.] Learning the guitar. Willing to trade guitar lessons for garb, maybe?)
- Costuming (My mother was a professional seamstress, and so I am pretty good with cloth and thread. Runs in the genes.)

More likely than not, I'll have a nice little housewarming party once we get to our new home and have some furniture (or at least pillows!) to sit on! Maybe we could all hang out, have supper and watch a good SCA appropriate movie, such as 'A Knights Tale' or something equally amusing!

Other than that, my name is Halley, I teach yoga and meditation. I own three cats, a chinchilla, and an incredulous Welshman by the name of Adam. He's an okay guy. . . really! I have been in the SCA for five years back in the Kingdom of An Tir. I am an artist and musician, though I always end up picking up a real job every now and again. So, if you have any odd jobs or anything, give me a ring. I'm not a very big person, though so I can't really do any hard labor. . . "I am Spartacus!"

So, that's it in a nutshell. Hope to meet you all this summer!

In Service of the Dream,
"Lord" Aemil

Subject:Another Artemisian Lost, and the Gryphon Scroll of Honor
Posted by:scascot.
Time:10:20 pm.
From the Kingdom of Artemisia mailing list:

It is with immense sadness that I write this missive.

Late yesterday, Holly Beth Smith, known in the SCA as Aurora Chakir bint Fareed ibin Chiraagh "Mina", passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident. Holly is survived by the love of her life, Rich Bullock, known in the SCA as Lord Bjarni Njalson.

This is a wonderful idea, and well worth getting behind.

Subject:New Here
Posted by:skjaere.
Time:1:19 am.
Mood: hopeful.
Greetings and good will, fellow members of this rather small community! I am newly come to Artemisia out of Drachenwald, though I am originally from An Tir. It looks like my local shire here is Stan Wyrm, though I have no idea how large or active a group they are. My main SCA interests are cookery and bardic. I am not and never have been an official member of the SCA, but I have clocked plenty of hours, and have two medieval history degrees. Anyway, hi!
